Halloween is a classic example using a title sequence to lure and capture the audience's interest to watch the film.
The title sequence starts of with a pitch black screen this helps to build up tension and suspense. We then see the first image of the title which is orange/red text on the black background; because it is a black background the text stands out more. This is used to create tention as it clearly shouts out danger, each text is only shown on the screen for a couple of seconds and then dissolves back into the black screen.
The style of the font is very distinct and bold capturing the audience's attention whilst disappering. the only image used within the sequence is a glowing pumpkin, which clearly defines that the film is about Halloween. The pumpkin also builds up tension within the sequence, as it gets bigger (slowly comes towards the audience.) The pumpkin flickers in and out with the music. This emphasises the Halloween theme of the film and set the scene for the rest of the fim.
The text is shown in Orange which slowly changes into Red to portray the type of genre of the film. Red is normally associated with danger and so added with the title of the film 'Halloween.'

The font size varies depending on what is being said, for example the actors name is in a larger font, and the character they are playing is in a smaller font, this emphasises the actor. A good exaple of this is 'Introducing JAMES LEE COURTIS as laurin'.
At the beginning of the sequence, the production company 'Compass International' slowly moves to the director of the film which is 'John Carpenter' and then to the actors that star in the film.
By doing this already the audience is established to the actors and are visualizing what type of character they would be playing in the film, from their previous movie roles.
Overall i think that the title sequence is very successful as it manages to build up tention throught the sequence.
